Tokai University Solar Car Team won second place in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.
The Tokai came in from behind on the last day and finished next to the Belgium team. The Tokai completed the 3,022 kilometer race, it was the 86km/h average speed, and only 15minutes different from the first team. The result showed the high performance of the solar car and great team work even though they forced their silicon solar cells was disadvantage compared with the compound solar cells with high power generation efficiency which almost of the leading teams are adopted.
Toray and Toray Carbon Magic have been fully supporting regarding the CFRP technology, especially for this year, our new generation carbon fiber M40X, design and molding technologies have made a significant contribution to improvement of weight saving and aerodynamic performance of the car body.
